Lateral Police Officers

The Hickory Hills Police Department is now accepting applications for Lateral Police Officers. Interested officers must have at least two or more years of continuous full-time employment in civilian law enforcement in Illinois.

The officers must have been certified by the Illinois Police Training Board as a certified police officer and be in good standing with their current police department. Interested officers will be subject to a medical examination, physiological examination, psychological examination, polygraph examination, background investigation, and oral examination.

Interested officers are exempt from the written examination and the P.O.W.E.R. test. A Lateral Transfer Eligibility List will be established from a pool of eligible, certified candidates.

Placement on the list, shall not be a factor in the appointive process. All applicants must meet all other requirements of a police officer.

Applicants will be removed from the list if they have been out of the profession for more than one year or a written notification is made to the Board of Fire & Police Commissioners by the applicant indicating their desire to be removed from the list.
